SourceGen ("we", "us", "our") is a financial education platform operated by Source Generation Group LLC. We are an educational service — we do not provide financial advice, brokerage services, investment management, or real trading. SourceGen does not collect or process any bank account, credit card, or brokerage-account information; any future in-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple or Google, not by us (see Section 4).

Account data — When you open SourceGen, we automatically create an anonymous account for you via Firebase Authentication (a random ID, no name, email, or password required). This ID lets your progress sync if you use the app again.
Learning data — Your investor profile, quiz answers, lesson completion, and daily streak. Stored on your device and synced to your anonymous account in Firestore (Google Cloud) so your progress isn't lost if you reinstall the app.
Email address (optional) — If you choose to enter your email after completing lessons, we store it against your anonymous account so we can send you updates. You are never required to provide an email to use the app.
Location — Your approximate country only, detected once via your IP address through a third-party service (ipapi.co). We do not store your IP address.
Usage / analytics data — Which country and language you selected, which learning track and profile you chose, and general app-usage events (e.g. lesson started/completed), via Firebase Analytics. This data is tied to your anonymous account ID, not your name or email.
Text sent to voice providers — When you tap the audio/Listen button, the lesson or quiz text being read aloud is sent to a third-party text-to-speech provider (see Section 4) so it can generate the spoken audio.
We use your data solely to:
We do NOT sell your data to third parties or use it for third-party advertising. We do NOT share your data with any party except the service providers described in Section 4, each of whom processes it only to provide their specific service to us (hosting, translation, or voice synthesis).
Firebase (Google LLC) — Authentication (anonymous accounts), Firestore (progress, streak, optional email, lesson content), Cloud Storage (pre-generated audio files), and Analytics (aggregate usage data). Google's privacy policy applies to data held on Firebase: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
ipapi.co — On first launch only, a single request detects your country from your IP address. Cached on-device afterward. ipapi.co/privacy
Google Cloud Text-to-Speech and Google Translate — Convert lesson/quiz text to speech and translate on-screen text into your selected language.
YarnGPT (yarngpt.ai) — Generates Nigerian-language voice audio (Naija Pidgin, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo) from lesson and quiz text.
ElevenLabs — Generates the welcome-screen presenter audio for several countries.
Pexels — Supplies stock photography shown on the welcome screen. No personal data is sent to Pexels.
Market data providers (future) — If a live market-data ticker feature launches, pricing data will be licensed from a third-party financial data provider for display purposes only; see the Terms of Service for the related disclaimer.
SourceGen currently has no live paid subscriptions. When subscriptions launch:
Mobile (iOS and Android) — all purchases are processed entirely through Apple's In-App Purchase system or Google Play Billing. SourceGen never sees or stores your payment card details — Apple and Google handle billing, refunds, and payment data directly.
Web (future, once available) — general markets will use Lemon Squeezy (or Paddle at greater scale) as a merchant-of-record checkout partner, which handles global sales tax/VAT and payment processing without SourceGen ever holding card data. For Nigeria specifically, Paystack will additionally be offered so users without a credit card can pay via bank transfer, USSD, or mobile money. SourceGen does not use Stripe.
Most preference and progress data is cached on your device using local storage (SharedPreferences / localStorage). This same data is also synced to Firestore (Google Cloud, hosted in the United States) under your anonymous account ID so it isn't lost if you reinstall the app.
We retain your anonymous account's data for as long as your account exists, or until you request deletion (Section 7). Uninstalling the app removes locally cached data from your device but does not automatically delete your Firestore record — contact us to request full deletion.
Regardless of your location, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data:
These rights apply consistently across regions: GDPR (EU/Germany), PIPEDA (Canada), LGPD (Brazil), NDPR (Nigeria), POPIA (South Africa), DPDPA (India), PDPA (Singapore/Thailand/Malaysia), and equivalent frameworks elsewhere.
SourceGen is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
SourceGen is used worldwide, and several of our service providers (Section 4) are based in or process data in the United States. By using the app and consenting to this policy, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred internationally. We use service providers that maintain appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified within the app. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
